This is a sweet little documentary filmed by the talented Jed Wells. It documents the making of my last record "Someday, Someday" as well as footage of touring, house concerts, and a music video of "Calling Your Name." This albums was recorded live with up to 10 musicians playing together in the same room. I loved this process of making music with people I care about and in a setting that puts the songs first. Hope you enjoy!

about

I've had a few people approach me after hearing this song and saying something along the lines of "you have written my current life theme song" so maybe we are all staying behind together...

lyrics

never asked to be the one here standing

guarding your door

I can hear your demons howling

I know who they’re crying for

never asked to be the one saving secrets

like they were my own

I’m done trading time for nothing

I wanna stand alone

chorus

thought I was holding you up

turns out I was waiting around to be loved

hoping to feel just once like I was good enough

i’ve made up my mind

i’m staying behind

you try just enough to say you tried

no trust in your heart

the size of your fear rivals your pride

so you never really start

I thought if I crossed your state line

you would come to my show

but your dream is dying so you won’t see mine

I’ll stop asking you to go

chorus

thought I was holding you up

turns out I was waiting around to be loved

hoping to feel just once like I was good enough

i’ve made up my mind

i’m staying behind

loneliness came right on schedule

quiet settled in

I heard my heart faint at first

start beating again

chorus

thought I was holding you up

turns out I was waiting around to be loved

hoping to feel just once like I was good enough

i’ve made up my mind

i’m staying behind
